Vision

To promote inclusion in spaces that lack accessibility.

MISSION

To create learning opportunities for all that desire to learn Sign Language and to provide individuals with skills to break the barriers, in order to create a more inclusive society.

How Sign With Me Came to be

Witnessing the lack of inclusion and accessibility in public spaces and programming, was a motivation to create an online ASL teaching business. One that provides community education and a safe space for non-deaf and Deaf individuals.

Founder

My name is Kenaya Jackman, I was born in Toronto, Ontario. I developed a love for American Sign Language (ASL), at an early age. My first exposure to sign language was through a Deaf girl and her family. Having that early exposure really ignited my passion and motivated me to learn the language. In later years, I took ASL night classes at the Bob Rumball Centre for the Deaf (BRCD) and later graduated from the Deaf Studies program at George Brown College. During this journey I have attended many Deaf events, created long-lasting friendships within the Deaf community and personal experiences that challenged me to create this business and become a huge advocate. Witnessing my Deaf colleagues being discriminated against in the workplace, awakened a calling to start a business. I only hope that with time, Sign With Me will motivate non- deaf signers to be an advocate; as I desire greatly to make an inclusive and accepting society.
